Susan Haines has over 20 years teaching experience at studios and universities nationwide. Susan is known for her specialized teaching approach that integrates her knowledge of kinesiology and biomechanics with technique. Her research with Neurokinetic Therapy and fascial dynamics led her to create Dance Conditioning Technique, a unique training system that offers dancers efficiency and power through fascial dynamics and biomechanics. She has worked with dancers from American Ballet Theatre, American Repertory Ballet, Ballet Austin and the school of Oregon Ballet Theatre to create conditioning programs for greater ease in turnout, pointe work and partnering. Her dance training includes master teachers Suzy Gunter, JoAnna Kneeland, David Howard, Frano Jelincic and Dagmar Kessler of the English National Ballet. She has performed with ballet and modern companies in Colorado, New York, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia, independent choreographers Gerri Houlihan, B.J. Sullivan, KT Niehoff, and Bradley Parquette and study at The Place: London Contemporary Dance Theatre and Dock 11 in Berlin. She has an MFA in Dance from UNC-Greensboro where she studied with leaders in the fields of Somatics, Kinesiology, and the Bartenieff Fundamentals; Dr. Jill Green and B.J. Sullivan. Susan is a certified Comprehensive Pilates Instructor who studied under Carolyn Watson, MS, LaC, Jenevieve Neros, PT, and scoliosis and sacroiliac joint workshops with Karen Clippinger, M.S.P.E, and Franklin Method with Eric Franklin and Tom McCook. She is trained in functional movement patterning through Primal Movement Chains with Dr. Perry Nickelston and is certified in Fascial Movement Taping and Fascial Flossing through Rocktape. Susan is a Level III Practitioner in NeuroKinetic Therapy: a sophisticated assessment and treatment modality that addresses the causes of dysfunctional movement/coordination problems at their root in the motor control center. She is on faculty at Western Washington University and Core Kinetics Pilates in Bellingham, WA. Susan has presented her dance conditioning workshops at conferences and workshops nationwide. She was honored with the Dance Educator of the Year Award from the Dance Education Association of Washington for 2013-2014.
